19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, took control to create a final set.
Moutet defended 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
